What Brownsville does to a window
Brownsville is the mainland city at the bottom of the Rio Grande Valley, about twenty miles inland from the Gulf, and the resacas are what shape it. These old channels of the Rio Grande wind through town, from the Town Resaca by the zoo out to Resaca de la Palma and the lots along Paredes Line Road and Central Boulevard, and the homes that back onto them sit in still, humid air under ash, ebony and sabal palms.
